What kinds of aquarium ornaments are appropriate for your seahorse tank?
Don't overcrowd your tank with ornaments - after all, you want to be able to enjoy watching your seahorses as they move around together.
Make sure that any ornaments you buy don't have sharp edges - seahorses need to wrap their tails around something that won't cut them!
Think outside of the box when it comes to holdfasts - colored plastic rope can make an attractive yet highly functional display.
If you want your aquarium to look authentic, artificial branching coral and grasses will provide holdfasts without introducing toxins.
Seahorses prefer red, yellow or orange artificial coral colors!
Consider the size of your seahorses when choosing aquarium ornaments - are there sufficient holdfasts for the size of their tails? Pick hitching posts with the appropriate diameter for the species of seahorse you are keeping.
Don't forget you'll need some living rock in your seahorse tank too! Tonga branch rock has the additional benefit of providing hitching posts.
